Heart: Barracuda

Heart – “Barracuda” Music Video

Barracuda is a song by American rock band Heart, released in 1977 on their third studio album Little Queen. The song was the lead single from the album and peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2009, Barracuda was named the 34th-best hard rock song of all time by VH1.

The song Barracuda was written by the band members Ann Wilson, Roger Fisher, Nancy Wilson, and Michael Derosier, and produced by Mike Flicker.

The song was inspired by the band’s anger towards Mushroom Records, who as a publicity stunt released a made-up story of an incestuous affair involving Ann and Nancy Wilson. The song also borrows the guitar riff from Nazareth’s cover of Joni Mitchell’s song This Flight Tonight.

The song combines elements of hard rock and heavy metal, featuring a powerful vocal performance by Ann Wilson and a distinctive guitar solo by Roger Fisher. The song also uses a sample from the 1978 song Me and the Gang by Hamilton Bohannon in the refrain.
